This package includes a deluxe, hospital grade alarm with long term bed and chair sensor pads. This system is commonly found in nursing facilities, and is perfect for home care use if a caregiver wants a system just like what a facility used with their patient.
Choose your bed pad size: 10" x 30" bed pad (for a patient weighing 120 lbs. or more) or a 20" x 30" bed pad (for a patient weighing less than 120 lbs, +$10)*.
Alarm monitor features adjustable volume (output varies between 80-90 decibels), tone options, a low battery indicator, and a pad lost light (for safety).
The bed sensor pad is placed under the lower sheet in the back or buttock area of your patient. There is a cord coming from the pad that should be run along the side of the mattress and then plugged into the alarm monitor. The alarm monitor can be attached to the bed frame or placed conveniently for caregiver access. When your patient sits up with the intention of getting out of bed, the alarm will sound, calling you to assist.
When your patient is ready to sit in their chair, you will remove the alarm monitor from the bed pad, and transfer to the chair pad! It's just as easy as that! A simple connection. And now you will know if they are trying to get up out of their chair.
If you are worried about your patient resetting the alarm monitor, there is a simple tamper-proof switch hidden from view, that when activated makes it so only the caregiver can silence the alarm with the handy 'Caregiver Key' included! (See user instructions for more information.)
Alarm monitor requires 3 AA batteries, (not included), or purchase the optional AC Adapter for $9.95 when adding to your cart.
* Using this system with certain types of mattresses or cushions, such as memory foam, Tempur-Pedic, air pressure alternating, gel cushions, or other ones designed to distribute pressure away from the body, can cause false alarm responses. When sensor pads are used on these surfaces, the mattresses/cushions distribute body pressure away from the pads, which can cause the pad to think that the patient is no longer upon it, triggering an alarm. Conversely, these mattresses/cushions can also cause delayed alarm issues. Our 20" x 30" sensor pads are more effective when used with these types of mattresses, so we recommend purchasing the larger pad, regardless of patient weight.
One year manufacturer warranty. Long term pads are expected to last a year and are warrantied as such. The pads should be replaced after that time. To order a new pad, see our Replacement Standard Sensor Pads.
